A "Snow Snake" - wooden spear approximately 4'6" long and 3/4" in diameter.  ** A broom handle is a good substitute **

A level playing area with some snow

Pack down the snow in your playing area to form a trough with banks on both sides.  The Arctic Winter Games standard is 10' wide with 1' banks and at least 100m in length.

Mark a throwing line at one end of the trough.

Players take turns throwing the spear to make it slide as far as possible along the surface of the snow field.

	Throws must be underhand
	Players may run up to the throwing line, but not cross it with any part of their body.
	Distance traveled is measured from the throwing line to the tip of the spear when it stops or to the point where it exits the trough.

The player whose spear travels the farthest wins.
